Safe and Sound

I’ve been to Zamboanga yesterday. I am so glad to be back safe and sound. If you have not heard about the Maguindanao Massacre you have not been reading newspapers or have not watched the news lately. Zamboanga and Maguindanao are part of Mindanao. I am so scared to travel alone and if it is not for work I will not dare step foot in Mindanao.

57 Deaths at Maguindanao Massacre was the most heartbreaking news I have heard in my entire life. Distressing news like when I heard that the ousted President Erap is again running for presidency on 2010 election.

I wonder what has happened to the Philippines, just this week we were so proud to be called Filipino because of the honor Manny Pacquiao and Efren Penaflorida has brought to our country. And then after a day we are famed to the world because of one brutal killing ever known. I still wonder how people can do such thing because of politics.

Come 2010 election, it will be a common sight to see velvet ropes and barricades at the airport and to where the caravan of the politicians will pass by. Crowd Control is the biggest issue, security is so tight for the traditional politicians of Philippines. Standard security measure like putting up of stanchions are a must. A lot of security personnel will be around, they fear too much of their lives. Thought balloon, if they don’t get rich being politicians and their lives are in jeopardy because of politics, why do they still run?

  1. Terror and fighting never do anything but make one's citizens victims themselves.
