Wishes granted or taken for granted?

Yena’s cousin celebrated her 6th B-day yesterday. She didn’t have the biggest party ever but I’m sure she was happiest that day when she got what she wished for. To add twist to the celebration, the B-day girl was asked to close her eyes and say her wishes. The B-day girl asked for a new bicycle, and when her eyes opened, there was the new purple bike on front of her.

Our daughter Yena was wishing for same thing but we have an agreement that we will give it to her we she reached 5 years old. She just turned 4 last Sunday and she also got her Disney playhouse as her birthday gift, that was her birthday request. With relatives teasing all the kids yesterday, they also asked them to close their eyes and made a wish. Yena wished for a bike but she saw nothing when she opened her eyes. She was deeply saddened that her wish was not granted and she cried out so loud that nobody can stop her from crying. I tried to console her and explained how lucky she is since she has lots of things that her cousin doesn’t. She smiled and requested if she can have a bike with additional seat for her sister Yannie. That was a thoughtful wish and I will try my very best to grant it to her.

My birthday will be few months to go and just like the kids I will close my eyes wishing for a motorcycle with matching cortech sport saddlebags so that I will always be on the go when we have basketball games and I’m addressing it to my generous wife. I hope that I can have a timeline when I can have it so that I can have an idea if my wishes will be granted or taken for granted.
